Kazaviti is one of the most beautiful mountainous villages of Thassos. Located very close to Prinos is suitable for tourism throughout the year, as it will travel each visitor to nature and back in time. The stone and wood dominate the buildings of the village and in combination with the rich vegetation of oaks, platanus and chestnut trees give a different aspect of Thassos. This aspect of Thassos hasn't been touched by time and the traditional coffee shop in the village certifies that, the best possible way.
Do not think however that time has stopped forever in this village, as young people with enthusiasm and, above all, love for tradition gave another impetus at Kazaviti by creating taverns offering rich meat dishes as well as rented lodgings for every taste! Finally, the religious element is not missing from this village and a visit to the church of Saint Panteleimonas will reward you.
Prinos is located northwest of Thassos and hosts the second port of the island connected to Kavala and also during the summer months with the port of Peramos. Prinos is widely known because of the oilfields that have been detected in its seabed and you may notice the oil tanks during your trip in the ferry boat. It is a village that mainly serves the visitor with its transport, but it also has tourist appeal, as its sandy beaches seem to gain more and more people.
The so-called Skala Prinos, is located in the well-known Dasillio, a perfect combination of water elements with the beauty and the scent of pines, emerging from the sea. This is where one will find luxury complexes as well as picturesque lodgings providing all amenities, and fully organized EOT (Greek National Tourism Organization, GNTO) camping…
On the one hand…shallow waters and on the other verdurous trees! This is the landscape that makes up Rachoni. A village in the northwest of Thassos, ideal for those who love calmness and relaxation. Picturesque taverns and traditional mansions adorn Rachoni, while at Skala Rachoni, near the port, the visitor enjoys the sea and the marine sports that appear to become increasingly much in request in recent years. In the region of Rachoni also flourishes the settlement of St. George on the mountain during the past years and just below nowadays where it was rebuilt with care by the locals.
The capital of the island, known as Thassos, is located on the north side, and offers the visitor a variety of experiences. With numerous beaches along its coasts, Limenas is the ideal destination for those who seek to combine swimming during the day, and cosmopolitan entertainment during the night. The beach café bars bustling with life all day long, while restaurants and patisseries offer unique culinary delights. Limenas market, has nothing to envy from the markets of large urban centers; traditional little shops as well as mass chain stores, meet every requirement.
In Limenas, being the administrative center of the island, are found most public services, several large hotels, and also the old and new port with daily ferry boat and high speed boat services, to and from Keramoti and Kavala ports. In the old harbor, overlooks the famous Kalogeriko, a two-storey traditional building that is used by the Municipality of Thassos as a cultural events hall and occasionally hosts various exhibitions, lectures and conferences. Finally, the visitor should visit the Museum and the archaeological sites of Limenas, particularly the ancient theater of Thassos, since this is a town with great prosperity since ancient times, and thus with plenty and remarkable findings.
